Day by day

The itinerary, honestly described

Driving times are real, not optimistic.

  1. Morning

    Livestock and the day's work

We leave Arusha after breakfast and reach the community by mid-morning. You walk out with the herd and see how grazing is actually managed — which is the subject the rest of the day keeps returning to.

Approx. 1.5 hours' driveWalking, 2–3 km

  2. Midday

Lunch, and questions in both directions

Lunch is cooked and eaten with the host family. Your guide interprets. The questions tend to go both ways and this is usually the part guests remember.

    Lunch with the host household

  3. Afternoon

Beadwork, water, and the drive back

An hour with the women's beadwork cooperative — you buy directly if you want to — and a look at the borehole the community fund maintains. Back in Arusha for the late afternoon.
